Mike Moss The bar is running smoothly, even though
some days we’ve had quite a high turnover of staff. Denny’s left us for
France, her place on Fridays being taken over by Lou Bordeaux. Phil Doster,
Tom Massman and George Cannon have all stepped in to do Wednesday shifts, but
sadly all have now gone on their travels. Vera is settling in to her Tuesday
afternoon shift and Mick Ellis is becoming a dab hand at ‘dishing the drinks’
on Monday afternoons. Because so many people like to get away
from the summer heat it has been normal practice to go to shorter hours in
late June or early July. Unfortunately this is the last newsletter until
September, so any changes to Club opening hours can only be shown on the
blackboard. (Chalkboard?) I will however, endeavor to keep the bar open as
long as there are customers who want to use it. |

As several members enjoyed Judy’s article on
vinegar, thought you might like Tom Massman’s on peroxide... This was written by a doctor’s wife who comments on
the use of peroxide over bleach. She says her husband has been a doctor for
36 years and you never smell bleach in a doctor’s office. They use peroxide instead. You can get a 3%
bottle in any drug store for under $1.00. 1. Soak toothbrushes in peroxide to keep them germ
free. 2. Clean counters and table tops with peroxide to
kill germs and leave a fresh smell. 3. After rinsing off wooden cutting boards, spray it
with peroxide to kill salmonella and other bacteria. 4. Spray 50/50 mixture on feet fungus every night and let dry. 5. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to
help rid of boils, fungus and other skin infections. 6. Put peroxide on a cut or scrape to kill germs
before applying bandage. 7. .Put a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a
load of whites in laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour
it directly on the spot. Let it sit for a minute, rub it and rinse with cold
water. Repeat if necessary. 8. Use peroxide to clean mirrors. There is no smearing. * *
* * Tip from Janet Kirkwood..To remove water rings on
wood furniture, rub with a walnut and this will remove them. |
